Invoice your clients and get paid by card or EFT
Send SARS-ready quotes and invoices from the same place you do the client work. Clients pay by card through your own Yoco account, and late payers get reminded for you.
Short answer
Add your business and banking details once, start the invoice from the client's Zelf and pull in the jobs you have not billed yet. The client gets a PDF and a pay link: card payments run through your own Yoco account and mark the invoice paid, and EFTs take one click to record. An issued invoice costs 1 credit; quotes are free.
Most solo agencies invoice from a spreadsheet or a separate app with its own monthly fee, then chase payments by WhatsApp. The work and the billing live in different places, so small jobs slip through.
In ZELF each client Zelf can be invoiced directly. The jobs you ran for that client drop onto the invoice as lines, the customer gets a link to view and pay, and the invoice marks itself paid when the money lands. Issuing an invoice costs 1 credit; quotes are free.
How to invoice a client and get paid
- 1 Open Invoices and add your business details once: trading name, address, banking details and, if you are registered, your VAT number. Every document picks them up.
- 2 To get paid by card, paste your own Yoco secret key in the same place. Payments go straight to your Yoco account, never through ZELF.
- 3 Start a quote or invoice from the client's Zelf. Their billing details fill in, and Add client jobs pulls in the work you have not billed yet. Add your own time on top.
- 4 Issue it. The client gets an email with the PDF and a link where they can accept the quote or pay the invoice.
- 5 Card payments mark the invoice paid on their own. For EFTs, record the payment in one click. Reminders go out before and after the due date until it is settled.

Frequently asked questions
Are the invoices valid for SARS?
Yes. Numbers run in sequence without gaps, every invoice shows your details and the customer's, and VAT vendors get "Tax Invoice" with 15% VAT and your VAT number. Over R5 000, ZELF asks for the customer's address before you issue, as a full tax invoice needs it.
Does ZELF take a cut of my payments?
No. Card payments go through your own Yoco account at your own Yoco rate. ZELF charges 1 credit when you issue an invoice and nothing on the money you collect.
I do not use Yoco. Can clients still pay online?
Yes. Paste any payment link, such as a PayFast or Paystack link, and the invoice shows a Pay online button. Record the payment when it arrives. Your banking details are always on the invoice for EFT.
