Report QR code results to your clients
Show a client what their printed QR codes actually did. Track scans by day, device and referrer, export a CSV, and put the numbers in your monthly report.
Short answer
Use one dynamic QR code per print placement and name it after the client and the spot. Every scan is logged with the time, device type, country and referrer, so you can export a CSV and show the client which placement worked. A static QR code cannot be counted at all.
A client pays for flyers, table talkers and window decals, then asks the fair question: did anyone scan them? With a static QR code you have no answer. With a ZELF code, every scan is counted.
Name each code after the client and where it was printed, and the scan history turns into a report: which placement worked, which days were busy, and whether the campaign earned a reprint.
How to report QR code scans to a client
- 1 Create one QR code per placement and name it after the client and the spot, for example "Lekker Bakes — window decal" and "Lekker Bakes — till slip".
- 2 Print the codes and let them run. Each scan is logged with the time, device type, country and referrer.
- 3 Open the scan stats on each code for total and unique scans, scans by day and top referrers.
- 4 Export the CSV and add the totals to the report you already send the client. The export leaves out IP addresses, so it is safe to share as it is.
QR reports clients actually read
Placement test
Compare the window decal against the till slip to see which one is worth reprinting.
Monthly report
Add scans by day and a total per code to the report the client already reads.
Campaign wrap-up
Show how many people scanned a promotion before it ended, then point the same printed code at the next offer.
Frequently asked questions
Can my client log in and see the stats?
Yes. Link each code to the client's Zelf, then invite the client with access to only that Zelf and the QR codes tool. They see the stats for their own codes and nothing else. Keep in mind that QR access also lets them create codes, which spends your credits, so for most clients a monthly CSV is simpler.
What is in the CSV export?
One row per scan, with the time, country, device type and referrer. IP addresses are left out, so you can share the file with the client as it is.
What is the difference between total and unique scans?
Total counts every scan. Unique counts repeat scans from the same device once, which is closer to the number of people who scanned.
